KFUM Oslo is now implicated in a match fixing scandal where two of their players are charged. The club is taking the matter very seriously and is cooperating with the police. Managing Director Thor-Erik Stenberg says that the club was made aware of the case on Thursday and that they do not have enough insight to comment on all aspects of the case. Stenberg confirms, however, that two of their players are charged in the case. Police prosecutor Sahd Iqbal in the Oslo police district confirms that the arrests took place on Wednesday this week and that all are released pending further investigation. In a statement, the police prosecutor says that the suspicion relates to individual events in matches and that there is no reason to believe that the alleged match fixing has had an impact on the match results. NFF Secretary General Karl-Petter Løken informs NTB that the association has been made aware of the case and that this is a very sad case for all involved and the entire Norwegian football. Jens Haugland describes the case as very serious and says that NTF is waiting for more information in the case. Kristoffer Vatshaug, who is the leader of the Norwegian Athletes' Central Organization, tells Nettavisen that what has come to light threatens the integrity of the entire sports industry. Vålerenga coach Geir Bakke commented on the case and emphasizes that he is speaking on a general basis. Police prosecutor Iqbal informed VG earlier on Friday that searches have been carried out at several addresses and that the police have made several seizures that are relevant to the case. The investigation, which is in an early phase, is described as highly prioritized. Usama Ahmad and Jonas Berge in Elden Law Firm represent two of the seven charged and confirm that they do not have any reason to comment on the case at this time.
