KFUM Oslo secured a vital 3-2 away win over Sarpsborg 08 in the Eliteserien on Friday evening. The victory came in a dramatic match where the team scored two quick-fire goals just before halftime.
Bjørn Martin Kristensen put KFUM Oslo ahead after 24 minutes. Sarpsborg equalised to 1-1 from a penalty via Daniel Karlsbakk in first-half stoppage time. But just one minute later, Håkon Hoseth made it 2-1 for KFUM Oslo, which triggered strong criticism from the home side.
- It should not be possible, said Sarpsborg's Claus Niyukuri to TV 2 at halftime. We have to go into the dressing room and talk about it, because it is unacceptable that they should score the second goal so quickly. We are not in position at all.
In the second half, Julian Gonstad sealed the win for KFUM Oslo when he scored to make it 3-1 after 73 minutes, with Bilal Njie providing the assist. Håkon Hoseth also cleared a Sarpsborg goal off the line from a corner. Sarpsborg had no response after the third goal, and the match ended 3-2.
The win gives KFUM Oslo 25 points after 21 games, provisionally placing them 10th in the Eliteserien. Sarpsborg also have 25 points but have now gone seven consecutive matches without a win. KFUM Oslo have thus reversed a negative trend and are now on a two-match winning run, after also beating Aalesund last weekend.
The team's standings show they remain in 12th place with 22 points from 20 games with a goal difference of minus 12. Next up is an important home fixture against rivals Vålerenga on October 12th, a team currently sitting one place above them in the table.
