KFUM Oslo have strengthened their attack with the signing of Nigerian player Promise Meliga from Vålerenga. The transfer was officially confirmed by Vålerenga on September 2.

The 19-year-old attacker has signed for Kåffa after spending part of the 2026 season on loan at Kristiansund BK. Meliga originally joined Vålerenga from the Nigerian academy Beyond Limits on his 18th birthday, and his previous deal with the club ran until 2029. Vålerenga stated that "Meliga had been sold to KFUM after making nine appearances for the club’s senior team."

KFUM Oslo currently sit 13th in the Eliteserien with 19 points from 18 games. The team has a goal difference of minus 11, having scored 20 and conceded 31. They trail league leaders Bodø/Glimt by a full 25 points. Their last match ended in a 4-1 defeat to Start on August 30, and the team's recent form shows two consecutive losses.

The acquisition of a new forward comes at a time when the team needs more goals. With a series of important matches ahead, including an away fixture against 4th-placed Molde on September 6, reinforcements are clearly needed.

Promise Meliga is a product of the renowned Nigerian talent academy Beyond Limits. He moved to Norway to sign for Vålerenga on his 18th birthday. Although he saw limited senior playing time at Vålerenga, with nine appearances, his loan spell at Kristiansund BK was an important part of his development in the Eliteserien.

His attacking skills will now be tested in KFUM Oslo's colours. The move represents a significant step up for the young player, who now gets the opportunity to establish himself permanently in the top flight.

The signing coincides with KFUM Oslo having to manage the absence of several key players. According to the latest injuries report, Ayoub Aleesami, Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Robin Rasch are currently sidelined. The addition of new attacking power could therefore help relieve pressure on the remaining players.

The team's position in the standings shows room for improvement, especially defensively. But adding a young, hungry attacking talent like Meliga could give the squad a new offensive tool. His ability to adapt quickly will be key to whether he can contribute immediately in the battle against relegation.

Meliga will now join training with his new team and work towards being ready to contribute in the remaining matches this season. His contract with KFUM Oslo is now the next major challenge in his career.
